Waterlust Apparel Honored for Outstanding Work in Green/Sustainable Business Ocean Advocacy Company Wins U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Award

Waterlust, an apparel company dedicated to marine science advocacy, has been named “Green/Sustainable Business” of the year by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The recognition was announced at the Chamber’s Dream  Big Awards Ceremony, an annual event celebrating the achievements of small businesses and honouring their contributions to the US economy. Miami-based Waterlust competed with 700 companies from across the nation to win the prestigious award.

“We are honored to be awarded the Green/Sustainable Business Achievement Award,” said Patrick Rynne, a marine scientist, founder and CEO of Waterlust. “Demonstrating that business can be both financially viable and environmentally responsible is an important message to us and we’re excited that the Chamber has chosen to champion it. Global warming, ocean pollution, species extinction…our generation faces large scale environmental problems that require advocacy at local, national and global levels, and businesses have a responsibility to lead the way. We look forward to working with the Chamber to bring the worlds of science and business together, and encourage further action that reflects the values of environmental stewardship and science advocacy.”

Waterlust produces eco-responsible swim and activewear whose sales help fund research and educate the world about ocean conservation. Key to the Waterlust mission is a low environmental footprint that keeps the oceans clean and protects marine life. The team assesses impact from carbon emissions, water use, biodegradability, and recyclability to determine the most environmentally-responsible approach.
