CCRM Shoreline Management Webinars – 2021

The VIMS Center for Coastal Resources Management is hosting two Shoreline Management Webinars.  These sessions will include presentations and live interaction with tidal wetland scientists and regulatory agency staff.  Each webinar will be recorded and posted on the CCRM web site for future viewing and reference.

Participation will require access to Zoom video conferencing software. Links will be provided after registration.  You can sign up for one or more webinar sessions.   Each session will be held from 10AM – 12PM Eastern on the selected dates.

Dates and Topics:August 11 – Tidal Marsh Ecology   

Findings from two recent studies of tidal marsh ecology and living shorelines will be presented.  Shoreline management implications for living shoreline design and tidal marsh migration will also be examined.

August 25 – Integrated Shoreline Management 

Learn about new guidelines and regulations that incorporate sea-level rise and climate change into the management of tidal wetlands and riparian buffers, as mandated by the Virginia General Assembly and State Water Control Board.  Guidance and modeling to assist localities with implementation of integrated shoreline management will also be discussed.
