In May, we made the decision to organize a beach cleanup event to coincide with World Ocean Day on June 8, 2023, at Koh Kwang, Krabi, Thailand. As always, our dedicated local volunteer team, led by Andy, enthusiastically took part in the initiative. Together, we worked diligently to collect all the litter and debris we could find along the shoreline.

After the cleanup, we took the time to sort the collected trash based on its type and recyclability. This important step helped us identify the recyclable materials, including plastic, glass, and metal, which amounted to a total of 38 kilograms.

At the end of the day, we proudly weighed all the rubbish we had gathered, and the combined weight came to 269.5 kilograms. With a sense of accomplishment, we ensured that the recyclables were properly segregated and sent to the appropriate recycling facilities, promoting a more sustainable approach to waste management.

By taking part in this beach cleanup event, we hope to raise awareness about the impact of litter on our oceans and environment and inspire others to take action in protecting and preserving our beautiful natural spaces. Through our collective efforts, we can make a positive difference for our planet.

Did you know most of the trash we collect in our clean-ups doesn’t even always come from Thailand? The trash in the streets ends up in the sea, and they drift with tides and currents, sometimes ending up very far from where they originally started their journey.

For the coral restoration this month, we made up o 334 corals, six and a half of the eight legs are done. We will probably make the head bigger once the legs are done, and after that just continue extending the legs. This process might take some time to see an obvious outcome.
