Programme Project Manager, Fixed term contract

Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is hiring a Programme Project Manager on a fixed-term, 10-month contract. ASC is the leading certification programme for responsible aquaculture, working with farmers, processors, retailers, and conservation partners around the world to reduce the environmental and social impacts of farmed seafood. The role can be based remotely in the Netherlands or the UK, with ASC headquartered in Utrecht and a UK office in London.

The Programme Project Manager leads the planning, execution, and reporting of cross-functional programme projects that advance ASC standards, assurance, and impact agenda. The role works with internal teams across standards, assurance, market development, and communications, and with external partners including funders, NGOs, industry groups, and research institutions, to deliver coordinated outcomes on time and within budget. Day-to-day work includes maintaining project plans, risk and dependency logs, stakeholder maps, and meeting cadences.

Additional responsibilities include preparing concise updates and decision papers for senior leadership, supporting funder reporting and grant management, and contributing to the continuous improvement of ASC project management practices. The Programme Project Manager helps translate strategy into delivery by identifying interdependencies, escalating risks early, and ensuring that learnings from completed work feed into future ASC programme design. The role offers the opportunity to work in a global matrix environment with colleagues across multiple time zones.

Required qualifications include several years of project or programme management experience, ideally in sustainability, food systems, certification, or international development; demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects with overlapping deadlines; strong written and verbal English communication skills; comfort working remotely in matrix or multi-partner environments with global workforces; and a Project Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is desirable. Benefits include a minimum of 25 days of holiday (pro-rata), pension, and a free weekly coffee.
