S. T. Hudson Engineers, Inc. is hiring an Offshore Marine Surveyor based in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, on a hybrid full-time basis with travel to project sites primarily in Louisiana, Texas, and surrounding Gulf states.

The Offshore Marine Surveyor supports offshore and nearshore marine survey operations through hands-on field data collection and equipment support. The role suits candidates with foundational industry experience who are dependable, safety-focused, and interested in developing technical expertise within a collaborative field environment.


Responsibilities

  • Perform offshore and nearshore survey assignments in support of engineering and inspection projects.
  • Assist with setup, calibration, deployment, operation, and recovery of marine survey equipment.
  • Collect accurate field data in accordance with project requirements and established procedures.
  • Participate in project mobilization, demobilization, and equipment staging.
  • Conduct basic computer networking, troubleshooting, and equipment-interfacing tasks.
  • Work aboard survey vessels alongside Vessel Captains and field leadership.
  • Assist with deck operations, equipment handling, and general field support tasks.
  • Follow all safety protocols and participate in daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Maintain survey tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Accurately complete field notes, logs, checklists, and related documentation.
  • Communicate field observations and issues to project management staff.
  • Conduct work in a professional and respectful manner with team members and clients.
  • Remain flexible to changing schedules, weather conditions, and project demands.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant marine surveying, offshore field work, or similar experience.
  • Ability to work in marine environments and variable weather conditions.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  • Experience with positioning systems, marine survey systems, and related software packages for GPS/GNSS, single-beam and multibeam echosounders, sound velocity profilers, side scan sonars, acoustic positioning, and scanning sonar/Mesotech systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.A.
  • Must reside in the U.S.A.
  • Physical ability to work on a marine survey vessel including lifting items up to 50 pounds.

Additional Notes

  • Hybrid full-time position, based in Cherry Hill, NJ.
  • Regular travel to offshore and nearshore project sites, including docks, boat yards, and staging areas.
  • Projects primarily located in Louisiana, Texas, and surrounding Gulf states.
  • Periodic travel to company offices may be required.
  • Overnight travel and flexible schedules required based on project needs.
