Description

Perennial Environmental Services is hiring a Mid-Level Environmental Specialist, a full-time remote role within the United States supporting environmental permitting, NEPA documentation, and agency coordination across the firm’s national client base. Candidates located in Louisiana and the surrounding Gulf area are prioritised for interviewing.

The Mid-Level Environmental Specialist supports data analysis and the preparation of technical reports, environmental permit applications, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, and coordinates directly with federal, state, and local agencies. The role offers practical experience in environmental permitting and compliance, with occasional travel (less than 10%) based on project needs.


Responsibilities

  • Support data analysis and the preparation of technical reports.
  • Prepare environmental permit applications and NEPA documentation.
  • Coordinate directly with federal, state, and local agencies on permitting and clearance matters.
  • Work collaboratively across cross-functional teams to deliver project outcomes.
  • Maintain accountability for deliverables through to final resolution.
  • Manage sensitive financial and project data.
  • Identify and manage competing priorities across multiple concurrent projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Botany, Wildlife Management or Biology, Forestry, Ecology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised and detail oriented.
  • Familiarity with the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, and other federal environmental regulations.
  • Experience coordinating with agencies responsible for issuing environmental permits and clearances (e.g., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Louisiana Department of Energy and Natural Resources).
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in federal or state regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
