Description
Bureau Veritas is hiring a Marine Surveyor and Marine Management Systems Auditor based in Kuala Belait, Brunei Darussalam, on a full-time permanent basis.
A Ships in Service Surveyor is an expert acting in Fleet Management Classification and Statutory Certification activities as defined in the Ships in Service Surveyor Certification Scheme, working under the supervision of a Ships in Service Quality Manager (SSQM). A Marine Management Systems Auditor (MMSA) acts in Management Systems Certification activities as defined in TNS 0034 and 0044, under the supervision of a Crew and Systems Quality Manager (CSQM) or Delegate CSQM.
Responsibilities
- Carry out surveys and audits, draw up and send relevant reports to the SSQM or CSQM, in compliance with FM and inland-specific procedures.
- Assess the conditions necessary for carrying out surveys and audits to the expected quality level, against own abilities, availability, and conditions on board.
- Request advice from SSQM or CSQM on any questions deemed beyond own abilities.
- Ensure the quality of services provided.
- Provide information and support to CDs, NS operations managers, SSQMs, CSQMs, MOCs, and MOs as concerns missions involving them.
Requirements
- Bachelor of engineering or technical diploma (college of technology or equivalent), both with a minimum two-year programme; or qualified by a marine or nautical institution with appropriate experience as a recognised ship officer.
- Proficiency in English and Malay; additional languages are an advantage.
- Computer literate.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team.
- High standards of integrity and professional ethics.
- Possession of a car and a valid driving license.
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
- Medically fit for offshore duties, including boat transfers and confined-space entry.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in the maritime industry.
- 5 or more years of experience in technical or operational aspects of shipboard management, obtained through ship classification or statutory survey work, sea-going service as a certificated watch-keeping officer, employment in a technical position within a ship management company (e.g., technical manager, superintendent, operations manager), or any combination of the above.
