Learning and Engagement Manager
Thames Estuary Partnership
The Thames Estuary Partnership is recruiting a Learning and Engagement Manager to lead its programme of learning, public engagement and community participation across the Thames Estuary. Hosted by University College London at its Bloomsbury campus, the Partnership brings together statutory agencies, NGOs, businesses, academic institutions and local communities working to protect, restore and connect people with the Thames Estuary, from Teddington to the open sea.
Responsibilities include leading the Partnership’s learning and engagement programme; designing and delivering schools, community and stakeholder education activities; coordinating citizen science and volunteer programmes; managing the Partnership’s communications including the website, newsletter, social media and publications; supporting grant fundraising and reporting on learning and engagement projects; convening events, workshops and forums; representing the Partnership to external audiences including local authorities, the Port of London Authority, the Environment Agency, Marine Management Organisation, and academic and community partners; and contributing to the Partnership’s strategy and policy work.
Required qualifications include experience in environmental learning, public engagement or community programme management; understanding of estuarine and coastal environments; strong written and verbal communication skills; experience with fundraising and grant reporting; comfort working with diverse audiences including schools, community groups and statutory partners; and the ability to travel regularly along the Thames Estuary. Knowledge of the Thames, of marine and estuarine policy in England, or of London’s environmental sector is highly desirable.
