Junior Marine Environmental Consultant

BMT is recruiting a Junior Marine Environmental Consultant to join its environmental team in Perth, Western Australia. BMT is a global engineering, science and technology consultancy with significant marine and coastal expertise, working across maritime infrastructure, offshore energy (oil and gas, offshore wind), ports and harbours, dredging, coastal protection, marine spatial planning and marine environmental management.

The Junior Marine Environmental Consultant will support the delivery of marine environmental impact assessments, regulatory approvals, environmental monitoring programmes and applied research projects for clients across Western Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region. The role provides exposure to a broad range of marine environmental work and a structured career development pathway within a global consulting firm.

Responsibilities include supporting environmental impact assessments and approvals for marine projects (ports, dredging, oil and gas, offshore wind, marine infrastructure); contributing to marine environmental monitoring programmes; assisting with field surveys and data collection; analysing and interpreting environmental data; preparing reports and contributing to client deliverables; supporting senior consultants in client engagement and project management; and contributing to BMT’s broader marine and coastal practice.

Required qualifications include a relevant degree (marine biology, marine science, environmental science, marine ecology or related); 1–3 years of relevant experience in marine environmental consulting, research or regulatory work; familiarity with Western Australian and Commonwealth marine environmental legislation and regulatory processes (EPA WA, DCCEEW); strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams; field survey experience is desirable; and commitment to BMT’s values and to applied marine environmental work.
