Lever Foundation, a globally operating NGO that works with food industry companies to improve animal welfare and sustainability in their supply chains, is seeking a Humane Aquaculture Policy Programme Manager. Active across North America, Europe, and Asia, the organisation engages major food businesses and animal agriculture producers to shift toward more responsible sourcing and production practices. The postholder will initially focus on aquaculture producers in Europe and North America, with scope to expand to additional regions.
The role centres on large-scale outreach to aquaculture producers via email, LinkedIn, phone calls, and in-person meetings, building relationships with production managers and owners, and connecting them with technology and service providers whose offerings can improve animal welfare, lower disease and mortality, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance sustainability. The postholder also connects producers with large food company procurement managers interested in sourcing from higher-welfare operations, works to secure implemented improvements in farm production practices, and represents Lever Foundation at industry events and in trade media.
Candidates should have strong outreach and engagement skills with a background in sales, business development, or policy advocacy; experience in the aquaculture or seafood sector is a plus but not required. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, a self-directed work ethic suited to a remote environment, and a personal interest in sustainability or food systems are essential. Willingness to travel occasionally for industry events and conferences is required.
