Email Marketing Manager

National Marine Sanctuary Foundation

The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation is recruiting an Email Marketing Manager to lead and grow the Foundation’s email and digital marketing programme. The Foundation is the official non-profit partner of NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, supporting the protection, restoration and celebration of America’s National Marine Sanctuary System through community engagement, science, education and policy advocacy.

The Email Marketing Manager leads the strategy, development and delivery of the Foundation’s email and digital marketing programmes, with a focus on growing audience, increasing engagement and converting supporters into donors, advocates and members. The role works closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Development team, the Programmes team and the Foundation’s digital agency partners.

Responsibilities include developing and executing the Foundation’s email marketing strategy and editorial calendar; writing, designing and delivering email campaigns (newsletters, appeals, action alerts, event invitations and stewardship); managing email lists, segmentation and audience growth; tracking and reporting on email and digital marketing performance against KPIs; supporting fundraising campaigns including year-end appeals, Giving Tuesday and major moments; supporting the Foundation’s broader digital marketing including social media, paid media and the website; managing relationships with email service providers, agencies and contractors; and supporting compliance with email marketing regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR).

Required qualifications include 3+ years of experience in email marketing, digital marketing or related field; demonstrated experience with email service providers (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Mailchimp, Constant Contact or similar); strong writing and editing skills; experience with audience segmentation and personalisation; comfort with data analysis and reporting; experience with HTML and CSS for email; understanding of digital marketing best practices including SEO, social media and paid media; the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; and a passion for ocean conservation. Experience with non-profit fundraising and Salesforce CRM is a plus.
