The National Oceanography Centre is hiring a Compliance Support Officer based in Southampton or Liverpool, United Kingdom, paying £35,151 to £38,662 annually with a closing date of June 2, 2026.

Reporting to the Senior Internal Audit and Compliance Officer, the Compliance Support Officer supports day-to-day compliance activities, ensures organisational compliance, and contributes to the governance and compliance function. The role serves as a point of contact for staff queries, oversees required compliance obligations, and supports policy and audit compliance, helping NOC staff stay aligned with the organisation’s legal, ethical, and regulatory obligations.


Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of day-to-day compliance activities and the governance and compliance function.
  • Act as a point of contact for staff queries on compliance matters.
  • Oversee required compliance obligations and support policy and audit compliance.
  • Support staff engagement initiatives and produce materials tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Contribute to NOC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and best practices in governance and compliance.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of governance and compliance principles and relevant legislation.
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders on complex and sensitive matters.
  • Comfortable contributing to staff engagement and producing tailored materials for diverse audiences.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality, collaboration, adaptability, and continuous improvement.

Additional Notes

  • Permanent, full-time position at 37 hours per week.
  • Position based in Southampton or Liverpool; hybrid working with up to 2 days from home for most positions.
  • 30 days contractual annual leave plus 3.5 closure days and bank holidays.
  • 10 percent employer pension contribution with a 15 percent National Insurance saving on employee contributions above 5 percent if in the salary sacrifice scheme.
