Los Angeles Pierce College is seeking an Arboretum and Botanical Gardens Manager to oversee the business operations, maintenance, and instructional support functions of its arboretum and botanical gardens. The position sits within the Los Angeles Community College District and receives general supervision from a classified or academic administrator.
Responsibilities span plant collections management, facilities and irrigation maintenance, venue rental operations, special events coordination, fundraising, and donor relations. The role also involves developing long-term financially sustainable plans for the gardens, implementing plant conservation strategies including monitoring for pests, diseases, and environmental pressures, collaborating with academic staff on instructional programme development, and supervising horticultural staff, student employees, and volunteers.
Candidates must hold either a bachelor’s degree in horticulture, plant sciences, or a related field with one year of paid experience coordinating a botanical garden, arboretum, or nursery; or an associate degree in the same fields with three years of equivalent experience.
