Safe Handling, Release, and Identification Workshop (Vero Beach)
Venue: Ocean Breeze Inn Vero Beach, 3384 Ocean Drive, Vero Beach, FL 32963, USA.
The Safe Handling, Release, and Identification Workshop trains fishermen in the proper techniques for the safe handling and release of entangled or hooked protected species, including sea turtles, marine mammals, smalltooth sawfish, Atlantic sturgeon and prohibited sharks. Attendance is required for commercial vessel owners or operators using longline or gillnet gear and holding certain shark or swordfish permits.
Certificates are renewed every three years and submitted with permit renewals. Attendance is free, and registration is by calling Angler Conservation Education on (386) 682-0158.
