Cycle Peru’s Sacred Inka Valley

Peru’s most distinguished hotel group, Libertador Hotels, Re- sorts & Spas, is pleased to announce a new Sacred Cycling package at Tambo del Inka, a Luxu- ry Collection Resort & Spa in the Sacred Valley, offering an exciting alternative to hiking the Inca Trail for outdoor enthusiasts wishing to explore more of this magical countryside off the beaten path. To elevate the experience even further — and to help with the altitude adjustment if needed — the bikes used are Specialized, electric, double suspension, frame and mountain rims, with pedal assist systems and central motors, opening up this experience to those who may not otherwise feel fit enough to participate. The package includes the following:

  • Three nights accommodation in a premium guest room
  • Water Circuit at Tambo del Inka’s Kallpa Spa
  • Unlimited Coca Tea, extensive buffet breakfast daily and one dinner for two
  • ANDEAN BREWS EXPLORATION: One thousand years of brewing techniques on their way to perfection. This 4-hour outing uses only trails and gently passes by crop fields, river banks, hacienda gateways and local shops. You will stop for an Andean “chicha” brewing expe- rience, and a modern hand crafted beer tasting experience. 18 miles approximately.
  • SALT MINES AND ANDEAN LAKES: On this six-hour outing, you will ride north to the district of Yahanuara, and then take a scenic detour to the Maras Salt Mines, which are still in use since Inka times and produce rare pink salt for gourmands around the world. From there you will continue upwards to Lake Huaypo for a hearty picnic lunch. 25 miles approximately.
  • Full Day at Machu Picchu (by train departing directly from the hotel)Rates for all as above start at USD $2995, based on double occupancy. Guests of this package can also enjoy a 20% discount off of spa treatments, 20% discount off any additional nights at Tambo del Inka or Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Cusco, free WiFi and late checkout of 4pm* on day of departure. Reservations can be made by emailing reservas@libertador.com.pe (mention code SACRED CYCLING).

“The Sacred Valley has miles of roads where cars rarely pass and which are the best way to find the jewels of this destination, including its peasant communities, “chicherias”, cultivation fields, and intact landscapes. If one wanted to travel these roads on foot, it would take days,” says Ven- turia Director Luis Zapater. “By bicycle, a certain physical level is normally required, but the electric bikes open this unique immersive experience up to all fitness levels.”

About Tambo del Inka, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Resort & Spa

Tambo del Inca opened in April 2010 as the second Peruvian member of The Luxury Collection, a brand renowned for exclusive properties in exceptional destinations. With its contemporary ap- proach to the ancestral aesthetic and the hospitality traditions of the Andes, the resort offers a quiet, luxurious retreat and an array of modern amenities while fully embracing and honoring the surrounding nature. In addition to its 128 elegant rooms and suites with mesmerizing views of the Andes and the Vilcanota River, Tambo del Inka also features a full-service spa, two heated swimming pools and its very own train station to facilitate trips to the legendary hilltop city of Machu Picchu. Miami-based Arquitectonica (www.arquitectonica.com) spearheaded the resort’s architectural concept to create an overall design that meshes perfectly with the hotel’s location between the murmur of the Urubamba River and the stillness of the Vilcanota Mountains. www.tambodelinkaresort.com
