Yemi Alade & Kat Dahlia – Rhythms to lift your spirit

We dare you to listen to this week’s selection and not dance. In your car, in the office, or better yet with a beer at the beach, these are rhythms to lift your spirit. Here we have Yemi Alade – FERRARI from her Album Mama Africa and Crazy Kat Dhalia Ft Gocho Dj Nando. Both hits have tribal beats with some modern flavor- but not too much to pull out of their roots. This week’s selection yells from Nigerian, Cuban, and Puerto Rican influences- all cultures that have rhythm programmed in their DNA.

Yemi Alade – FERRARI

Yemi Eberechi Alade is a Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter. She made her musical debut in an all-girl group called Noty Spices in 2005, but you might have discovered her after she won the Peak Talent Show in 2009, and is best known for her hit single “Johnny.”

Yemi’s Afropop beats drive down to your soul and all you need to do is watch one of her videos to redefine what you thought was dance. Listen, smile, dance. Rinse and repeat.

Crazy Kat Dhalia Ft Gocho Dj Nando

Also, in interviews, Dahlia has mentioned that legendary reggae recording artist Bob Marley, has had a great influence on her musical style.

Gocho’s father is a renowned salsa trombonist and his brother a member of pop group Cultura Profetica. Even his aunt was a backup singer for a number of Latin pop stars.
