Position Overview

Salary/Compensation: $25/hour
Application Deadline: June 1, 2025
Starting Date: Between June 1 and June 30, 2025
Ending Date: After October 31, 2025
Hours per Week: 40+
Education Required: Bachelor’s in Archaeology or related field
Experience Required: At least 1 year


Essential Functions

  • Conduct archaeological surveys and monitoring in compliance with NHPA
  • Record cultural properties and isolated finds in California and Nevada
  • Assist in archival research and data review
  • Prepare field documentation and final reports
  • Evaluate site conditions and determine NRHP eligibility
  • Review contractor reports and participate in project meetings
  • Support Section 106 documentation and tribal consultation
  • Navigate varied terrains in extreme weather conditions, carry field packs, and camp overnight when needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience in Mojave Desert or Great Basin archaeology
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, GPS, Field Maps, and database entry
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Section 106 and NEPA compliance processes
  • Physically fit to endure rugged field conditions
  • Valid driver’s license with 4WD capability
  • Experience writing and reviewing reports and site forms in CA/NV contexts

Working Conditions
