Position Overview
Salary/Compensation: $25/hour
Application Deadline: June 1, 2025
Starting Date: Between June 1 and June 30, 2025
Ending Date: After October 31, 2025
Hours per Week: 40+
Education Required: Bachelor’s in Archaeology or related field
Experience Required: At least 1 year
Essential Functions
- Conduct archaeological surveys and monitoring in compliance with NHPA
- Record cultural properties and isolated finds in California and Nevada
- Assist in archival research and data review
- Prepare field documentation and final reports
- Evaluate site conditions and determine NRHP eligibility
- Review contractor reports and participate in project meetings
- Support Section 106 documentation and tribal consultation
- Navigate varied terrains in extreme weather conditions, carry field packs, and camp overnight when needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Experience in Mojave Desert or Great Basin archaeology
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, GPS, Field Maps, and database entry
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of Section 106 and NEPA compliance processes
- Physically fit to endure rugged field conditions
- Valid driver’s license with 4WD capability
- Experience writing and reviewing reports and site forms in CA/NV contexts

Working Conditions
