Children’s Books on Ocean Plastic

I am a children’s author from the UK and I have written a series of children’s picture books which highlight the problems of plastic in our oceans. I would like the books to be made available in schools around the world and I need some help to achieve this.

Here are some brief points about the books:

  • Reached over 250,000 children so far in schools in the UK
  • The books are based on true stories which means that children are more connected to the issue
  • Personal letters of congratulations from Sir David Attenborough and Prince Charles
  • Featured in the BBC, Guardian, Huffington Post and Mail on Sunday and many more
  • Supported by national and international marine charities
  • Translated into many languages with the ultimate goal of donating books into schools in countries such as India, Indonesia and Kenya
  • Being used by thousands of schools across the UK to motivate whole towns/cities to stop their use of single use plastic
  • Sponsored by national and international companies, charities, local businesses and community groups
  • Numerous testimonials from teachers about the positive impact of the books on their children and how they are inspiring them to make a difference

What I hope to achieve:

  • To get a copy of the book into every primary and preschool
  • To ask businesses/charities/organisations to fund the books in schools at a cost of US$30 per school to include two books, teaching resources and postage

The outcome of the schools project:

  • Ongoing opportunities for local and national press coverage to help raise awareness
  • Thousands of children across a community learning about the issue at the same time
  • These children between them probably have links to every single business in the area
  • Children are writing letters to local businesses asking them consider their use of single use plastic
  • Schools are working towards becoming Plastic Free and Eco-Schools
  • Schools are organising beach cleans and litter picks
  • Everyone is getting involved from families, schools, businesses, wider communities, organisations, Council, MPs etc

I would very much appreciate any involvement in sponsoring the books – whether this is the area around your business or a larger town or city, any support you can offer would be fantastic. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in contact with me ellie.jackson@wildtribeheroes.com.

Please share this with anyone that might be interested either in stocking the books (ie. the bookshop or zoo), or who might like to help find sponsorship to get the books into your local schools (ie. local energy it waste companies, local council, MP, local business, schools themselves or conservation groups/charities).
