Capitol Hill Ocean Week 2017

JUNE 13 – 15, 2017 | Washington, D.C.
Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center

What started as a small, daylong gathering in 2001 is now Capitol Hill Ocean Week® (CHOW), the nation’s premier annual conference examining current marine, coastal and Great Lakes policy issues.

Convened by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation every June, CHOW brings together more than 600 national and global policymakers, scientists, scholars, businesses and conservation leaders to address pressing science, conservation, and management issues facing our ocean and Great Lakes. People around the world have a virtual all-access pass to the conference and its headliners through free live streaming of every session, access to additional web-only interviews and a dynamic social media presence.

Held in conjunction with CHOW, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation’s Ocean Awards Gala™ recognizes champions of marine and Great Lakes stewardship with Leadership, Lifetime Achievement and Sanctuary Volunteer of the Year Awards. Recipients include President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush, Members of Congress, leading scientists and scholars, philanthropists, explorers and dedicated community volunteers. More than 500 people across the ocean community attend the annual black-tie event known for its gourmet menu featuring sustainable seafood.
