Description:
The National Audubon Society is hiring a Senior Director to lead a groundbreaking, multi-year, hemispheric bird conservation initiative. This role coordinates with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and partners across the Americas to align on a unified, co-produced conservation framework. The Senior Director will facilitate negotiations, strengthen cross-border coalitions, and provide strategic input to Audubon’s leadership while championing equity, inclusion, and community co-creation throughout the process.
Responsibilities:
- Lead hemispheric negotiations to secure government-endorsed bird conservation frameworks
- Build consensus across Audubon, USFWS, and international stakeholders
- Manage partnerships and serve as liaison across conservation networks
- Oversee project plans with defined goals, metrics, and timelines
- Ensure EDI principles are embedded in every phase of the work
- Support communications and development/fundraising efforts
Requirements:
- 10+ years’ experience in conservation, advocacy, or public service (with Latin America focus preferred)
- Deep expertise in bird conservation and policy
- Demonstrated coalition-building and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong leadership and project management abilities
- Proven fundraising and donor engagement experience
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and public speaking skills
- Spanish fluency required; Portuguese a plus
- Willingness to travel up to 30%
