Senior Campaign Strategist – Climate & Energy (x2 openings)

Greenpeace International is hiring two Senior Campaign Strategists to join the Climate & Energy team. These full-time roles (initially offered on a 12-month contract with possibility of extension or permanent status) are critical in designing and supporting impactful global campaigns around fossil fuel accountability, gas, plastics, and extreme weather events.

These roles guide strategy and foster collaboration across Greenpeace’s global network, ensuring campaign alignment with the Global Programme. Strategists will lead on campaign lifecycle planning, strategic advising, innovation, learning integration, and international representation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Guide and support National and Regional Organisations (NROs) through campaign lifecycle phases to ensure strategic, high-impact campaigns.
  • Facilitate integrated strategy development tied to Greenpeace Global Programme priorities.
  • Provide strategic advice to Programme Leaders at GPI and within NROs.
  • Champion innovation, agile learning, and best practice sharing.
  • Represent Greenpeace externally and build internal cross-team collaboration.
  • Respond rapidly to external changes with adaptive strategic leadership.

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience:

  • Proven record in delivering impactful, people-powered campaigns.
  • Deep understanding of climate and energy justice.
  • Expertise in one or more strategic Greenpeace campaign areas.
  • Skilled in strategic thinking, change leadership, and project adaptation.
  • Cross-cultural fluency and experience working across time zones.
  • Demonstrated success working in or with the Global South.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Capacity-building and coaching experience.
  • Familiarity with campaigning best practices and digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Zoom).
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Comfortable with international travel and working under deadline pressure.

Terms & Compensation

  • Contract: 12-month initial contract with possibility of renewal/permanency.
