About Blue Ventures
Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts coastal communities at the heart of its mission. We support small-scale fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life, and create sustainable pathways to prosperity. Our work began over 20 years ago in isolated coastal communities in Madagascar and has since expanded globally. In over a dozen countries, we partner with traditional fishers and community-based organizations to design, develop, strengthen, and sustain community-led fisheries management and conservation. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for policy reform and share tools and best practices that support fishing communities around the world.
Job Overview
Blue Ventures is looking for a Regional Technical Coordinator to lead our efforts in Inclusive Finance and Food Security, including value chain development in the southwest regions of Madagascar.
This role will provide technical and strategic guidance to our implementation teams, addressing issues such as post-catch losses, fluctuating fish product prices, and limited access to financial services (including credit, savings, and insurance) for fishing communities in Blue Ventures’ partner villages. The selected candidate will supervise and provide technical expertise to the activities carried out by our partners during the transition period.
At the heart of Blue Ventures’ 2030 strategy is a strong commitment to enhancing the economic resilience of households in coastal communities. This is achieved through savings groups and maximizing income from fisheries, supporting sustainable small-scale fisheries management by local communities. The position requires proven experience in inclusive finance and value chain development tailored to coastal communities.
The Regional Technical Coordinator will oversee the Financial Inclusion and Value Chain Technician in the region and will be responsible for implementing the roadmap related to the Financial Inclusion Pathway, Value Chain Pathway, and Food Security initiatives in southwest Madagascar. Reporting directly to the National Technical Lead for Financial Inclusion, this is a full-time position based in Toliara. The selected candidate will work closely with the Southwest Regional Manager, Project Leads, field implementation teams, other regional coordinators, and partner organizations.
