Position Overview

The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust is seeking a Project Officer to support peatland restoration across the Lincolnshire region within the Natural Character Area (NCA39). This role is part of a larger collaborative effort in the Humberhead Levels, including partnerships with counterparts in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will bring a proactive attitude and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders to create large-scale nature recovery initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate peatland restoration and monitoring in a lowland setting.

  • Engage with land managers, local authorities, and partner organizations.

  • Advocate for the ecological and climate importance of peatlands.

  • Work within the frameworks of the Environment Act and the Environmental Improvement Plan.

  • Promote the role of healthy peatlands in England’s Net Zero ambitions, water management, and heritage preservation.


Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Sound knowledge of environmental legislation and government environmental strategy in England.

  • Understanding of peatland ecosystems and their contribution to climate goals.

  • Experience in partnership working, advocacy, and project management.

  • Strong communication skills and a passion for ecological restoration.

  • Relevant environmental qualification or equivalent professional experience.

  • A valid UK driving licence.
