Background

IUCN is looking for a motivated and dedicated Practicum Trainee to join our team for practical on-the-job training. This opportunity is designed for recent graduates or early-stage professionals who have completed their academic degree within the last 2 years. The ideal candidate should be eager to gain valuable hands-on experience and contribute to environmental and sustainable development projects.

Job Description

The Practicum Trainee will support the Country Office Admin, Finance and Programme/Projects, among other tasks required by the Country Office.

The position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Specific Duties

  1. Administration and Logistics
    • Assist with daily administrative and logistical tasks for the office and programs.
    • Manage and organize document filing systems.
    • Support the registration and tracking of office assets.
    • Assist in procurement processes and related tasks.
    • Handle incoming office phone calls.
    • Deliver official documents as required.
  2. Finance and Accounting
    • Organize and maintain finance-related filing systems.
  3. Programme/Project Support
    • Assist in organizing and coordinating events, meetings, workshops, and training sessions for programs.
    • Participate in field activities when required.
    • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Community Development, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, or at least one year of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills in both English and Lao.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet applications.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment.
  • Able to travel to project site if required by the project team (in Lao PDR).
