Nature Reserves Officer

City of Greater Geelong

Join the Environment and Biodiversity team at the City of Greater Geelong and play a direct role in managing and restoring natural reserves including bushland, coastal, roadside, and waterway ecosystems. You’ll supervise contractors, implement bushland maintenance and restoration activities, and engage with community and governmental stakeholders to improve biodiversity values across the municipality.

Responsibilities:

  • Protect and enhance native vegetation and habitat for biodiversity improvement
  • Assist in developing and reviewing Council’s nature reserve programs
  • Collaborate on master plans and conservation management strategies
  • Oversee delivery of on-ground bushland restoration and reserve maintenance
  • Lead community education and involvement efforts in biodiversity conservation

Requirements:

  • Experience in flora/fauna ID, natural resource management, and bushland restoration
  • Hands-on ability to conduct outdoor labor including tool use and terrain navigation
  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in environmental science or bushland management
  • Valid Victorian manual driver’s license
  • Current employee Working with Children Check
  • Must pass National Police Check and pre-employment medical assessment
