About DBMS
The mission of the Duxbury Bay Maritime School is to connect people of all ages, abilities and means to Duxbury Bay through educational and recreational programs that stimulate individual growth and an enduring love and appreciation of the sea.
Position Overview
As a Marine Science Instructor, you’ll play a key role in leading interactive and engaging marine science programs for students ranging from preschoolers to middle schoolers. Your work will involve both spring field trips and summer programs, helping young learners develop a deeper connection with the marine environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead hands-on marine science lessons for students (ages 2-12) in a fun, engaging way.
- Supervise and instruct groups of 15-25 students during school field trips (May-June).
- Guide and chaperone excursions to Duxbury Bay and beyond.
- Drive a 15-passenger van to transport students to local field sites.
- Ensure safety by following DBMS safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and program directors to develop innovative activities.
What We’re Looking For
- Passion for marine science, education, and outdoor learning
- Experience working with children (teaching, camps, coaching, tutoring, etc.)
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various conditions and engage students in hands-on learning
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license (for van transportation duties)
Position Details
- Duration: May – August (preferred), but flexible options available
- Location: Duxbury, MA *Housing is not included with position*
- Hours: Part-time, seasonal
- Compensation: Competitive pay based on experience
