Background
IUCN is the world’s oldest and largest global environmental network. The IUCN European Regional Office (EURO) in Bonn provides critical connections between IUCN Members, National Committees, EU institutions, NGOs, scientists, and the private sector. Its focus includes the European Green Deal, the EU 2030 Biodiversity Strategy, and national and regional biodiversity goals.
Position Summary
The Junior Officer – Nature Restoration will support the implementation of IUCN’s policy and programme work related to nature restoration in Europe. Reporting to the Regional Coordinator, Nature Restoration, and working closely with the Programme and Policy team, the role includes responsibilities within multiple projects and across IUCN’s regional priorities.
Key Responsibilities

Support implementation of key projects related to nature restoration.

Draft reports, policy briefs, and other strategic documents.

Organize meetings and discussions with external stakeholders.

Assist in planning and executing events.

Contribute to new project proposals.

Help track progress on IUCN regional priorities.

Attend relevant events and draft meeting notes.

Provide administrative support including reporting, logistics, and internal processes.

Candidate Requirements

Strong alignment with IUCN’s mission and vision.

University degree in a relevant subject.

Prior experience with EU nature conservation and restoration policies.

Understanding of EU institutions and biodiversity strategies.

Excellent English writing and editing skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

High attention to detail, organizational and multitasking abilities.

Capacity to work independently and under tight deadlines.

Motivation to grow and develop new skills.

Team player, interested in working in an international environment.

Must be an EU national or hold a German work permit.
