Description:
Join a passionate team of educators at Youth Environmental Alliance (YEA), a nonprofit committed to experiential science education and hands-on environmental programs. This role involves teaching K–adult audiences on topics like ecology, archaeology, fishing, gardening, and restoration across South Florida counties, with additional responsibilities as a naturalist on adult eco-tours (kayaking, paddle boarding, Everglades trips, and more).
Responsibilities:
- Deliver in-person and virtual environmental programs for youth and adult audiences
- Lead eco-tours and activities including fishing clinics, gardening workshops, dune restorations
- Manage classroom engagement indoors and outdoors, often in extreme weather
- Coordinate with clients and maintain program calendars and records
- Promote YEA programs at fairs and events; maintain equipment and supply stock
- Contribute to social media with event photos and updates
- Organize receipts and assist with outreach kits and warehouse inventory
- Represent YEA professionally, communicate effectively, and support continual program improvement
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience or equivalent in environmental science, education, or related field
- Experience teaching large groups, including outdoors
- Comfortable teaching topics aligned with Florida State Standards
- Lifeguard, Rescue Diver, or CPR certification (or willing to obtain within 90 days)
- Strong organizational and tech skills (Microsoft Office, smartphone apps)
- Valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle for transporting supplies
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive with a positive, team-oriented attitude
