Wagga Wagga City Council is seeking a motivated person with highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills to join our Environment and Sustainability Division.

As the Environmental Coordinator, you will be fundamental for the City’s environmental education and will play a crucial role in leading the Environmental team in building strong relationships with the community and internal and external stakeholders.

  • Commencing salary of $3,780.02 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $4,536.02 gross per fortnight plus superannuation (11.5%).

This position will be responsible for:

This position is responsible for leading the Environmental Team in the delivery of high-quality environmental programs including environmental monitoring and reporting, natural resource management projects and activities and educational programs across the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of environmental programs to effectively manage biodiversity and biosecurity.
  • Oversee data collection for Council’s urban salinity and water monitoring programs and activities.
  • Build strong relationships and networks with the community, business and stakeholder agencies, through environmental education programs and activities.
  • Provide technical input and advice to internal and external stakeholders and agencies for environmental matters of relevance.
  • Lead, engage, mentor, and develop the environmental team, ensuring effective supervision to achieve the best organisational and community outcomes for service delivery.
  • Plan, organise and manage activities and resources (e.g., equipment, staff, budget, etc) efficiently, effectively and safely.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for an experienced professional with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or related discipline.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Substantial experience in providing leadership, motivation in a team environment, adapting to, influencing and leading change in a working environment; and
  • Highly developed communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills strongly focused on the provision of quality customer service.
