Position Summary
The Blue Bonds Project Manager (BBPM) will oversee the implementation of TNC’s Blue Bonds program in Belize. This includes project management, stakeholder coordination, budget oversight, and reporting. The BBPM acts as the primary contact with technical teams in government agencies, conservation partners, funders, and academic institutions.
The role is based out of a home office in Belize City or nearby and reports to the Belize Blue Bonds Director. It may require domestic and occasional international travel, sometimes to remote or physically demanding locations.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the full project lifecycle for the Blue Bonds program, including milestones under the Conservation Funding Agreement (CFA)

Develop and maintain project workplans, budgets, metrics, and schedules with stakeholder input

Supervise staff, vendors, and consultants

Oversee data tracking, evaluation, and reporting (internal and donor reports, impact summaries, etc.)

Ensure alignment and communication across workstreams and partners

Provide technical input on partnerships, policy frameworks, and conservation finance mechanisms

Represent the Blue Bonds Director in technical committees and public forums as needed

Resolve issues, mitigate risks, and ensure adherence to project management standards

Support logistics for events and community engagements
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience in natural resource management or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Strong understanding of Belize’s socio-political landscape as it relates to marine affairs

Experience managing complex projects and coordinating multi-partner teams

Experience with budgets and contracting
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking

Experience negotiating agreements and supervising staff

Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
-
Multilingual skills and cross-cultural experience (especially in Belizean communities)

Knowledge of marine conservation trends, marine spatial planning, and conservation trust funds

Familiarity with GIS tools and data systems
-
Ability to communicate technical information to non-expert audiences

Experience in conservation finance or similar large-scale conservation initiatives
