About This Event: With fewer than five years left to reach the global 30×30 target of protecting 30% of the ocean by 2030, reliable data on human activity at sea has become one of the more pressing infrastructure questions in marine conservation. This webinar introduces the Marine Manager platform, a free and open tool developed by Global Fishing Watch in partnership with Donna Bertarelli Philanthropy, built on satellite tracking and environmental datasets.

Presenters will walk through how Marine Manager has already supported the designation of critical biodiversity areas, the design of management plans, and long-term monitoring efforts, and how the platform is being used to push back against the so-called paper parks problem.

What to Expect:

  • Live walkthrough of the Marine Manager platform
  • Case studies across multiple jurisdictions
  • Discussion of transparency challenges in MPA governance
  • How open data supports 30×30 implementation

Panel Presenters / Speakers:

  • Lina Gutierrez Cala, Global Fishing Watch
  • Leah Buckley, Global Fishing Watch
