Maine Blue Economy Week

Venue: Holiday Inn by the Bay, Portland, Maine, USA.

Maine Blue Economy Week convenes more than 250 entrepreneurs, investors, funders, researchers, students, industry leaders, policymakers and ecosystem partners in Portland to focus on growth across Maine’s ocean and coastal economy, valued at 6.8 billion dollars and supporting more than 90,000 jobs. Programming centres on ocean innovation, investment, entrepreneurship, workforce development and sustainable growth, spanning industries including fisheries, aquaculture, seafood systems, marine biotechnology, ocean data, coastal infrastructure, sustainable boatbuilding, marine propulsion and marine energy.

The event is presented through a collaboration between the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, the University of Maine, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences and Northeastern University’s Roux Institute, with major support from the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development and the Maine Technology Institute. Over three days, attendees take part in sessions exploring trends in blue economy research, investment, entrepreneurship, policy, workforce training, commercialisation and collaboration across Maine’s research, business and marine-sector communities.
