From Silos to Systems: Relational Frameworks for Marine and Coastal Management

About this event

From Silos to Systems is a one-day conference for marine scientists, policymakers, regulators and management practitioners on how UK marine science, policy and regulation connect. It is built around the Relational Frameworks project, which has used simple tables to map how these areas relate, including the people, expert groups, finance and value chains involved. The aim is to show how understanding those relationships can support collaboration, reduce duplication, improve decision-making and deliver more value for the marine environment and society.

The day combines presentations, practical examples and interactive discussion across three sessions. The morning explains the frameworks and how they can be used. The midday session looks at collaborations that have worked across organisational silos. The afternoon closes with “provocations” on priority challenges where pooled effort could make a difference. Participants’ input will feed into the event’s outputs.

Organisers: Relational Frameworks project (Lissa Batey, LB Ocean Consulting; Hayley Hinchen, Sea Sense Marine Consulting; Bob Earll), promoted by Ocean and Coastal Futures
