The 2026 Blue Horizon Summit, themed Deep Waters, Shared Currents, is a joint conference presented by Black in Marine Science and Justice Outside. It is hosted at Florida A&M University, with virtual sessions held in Whova. One of the scheduled sessions is Soil, Sea, and Self: The Fieldwork Experience, a panel on the personal, cultural and professional sides of field research. It covers how scientists handle identity, community connection and safety when working outdoors and in the water.
