The 8th of June – World Ocean Day – is a special time to celebrate and honor our one shared ocean! Although our ocean needs protecting and celebrating 365 days of the year, we invite everyone to take action and participate in World Ocean Day to provide extra support and engagement in honor of our blue planet in June.
WorldOceanDay.org is a resource for you to use as you wish, and if you submit your event or activity we will amplify it to the world through our network of organizations working in 150 countries. We will list events, activities, and conservation-related announcements on the Events Calendar, World Map, and/or Announcements List. Whether your event is happening on 8 June, World Ocean Day, or you have something planned any other day of the year — share it with the world by submitting it here.
If you do not see an event in your area, check back regularly as events are being added daily and if you have submitted an event recently, it should be reviewed and published soon! Check out some of the many events that are happening around the world!
If you’re looking for amplification on social media, the best way to get our attention is by following the World Ocean Day social media platforms and tagging World Ocean Day in your conservation-related posts:

Our main goal with helping globally coordinate World Ocean Day since 2002 has been to help unite and rally the world to protect and restore our blue planet with its one ocean, one climate, and our one future, together. By uniting together, and with a special emphasis on engaging and connecting youth, we can significantly increase awareness, action, and the political will needed to create a healthier ocean and a better future.
For the third consecutive year, World Ocean Day and its fast-growing international network will continue to support momentum for a global commitment to “30×30”: Protect at least 30% of our lands, waters, and ocean by 2030 to create a healthy ocean with abundant wildlife and help stabilize the climate. It’s encouraged for you to incorporate this theme into your plans. Please see the new “How-To Guide” to help you easily incorporate this theme into your World Ocean Day plans. If you haven’t already, please sign this year’s 30×30 petition and share it with anyone you know who supports protecting our blue planet!
