Position Overview
Salary/Compensation: $30–$34 per hour, depending on experience
Application Deadline: June 30, 2025
Starting Date: Between June 1 and July 30, 2025
Ending Date: Between June 1 and July 30, 2026
Hours per Week: 40 hours (Full-Time)
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field
Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year in archaeological fieldwork or equivalent coursework
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead archaeological surveys, assessments, and monitoring projects
- Conduct fieldwork including walking surveys, mapping, and artifact recovery
- Perform excavation and documentation using established archaeological methods
- Evaluate and report on National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility
- Maintain field equipment, databases, and documentation standards
- Work with volunteers and collaborate with NPS staff and researchers
- Enter artifact and project data, assist with interpretive content
- Support field safety, logistics, and overnight camping as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of Mojave and Colorado Desert archaeological materials
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, GPS, topographic maps, and artifact cataloging
- Comfortable navigating rugged terrain and carrying loads over 40 lbs
- Ability to synthesize research, conduct record searches, and write technical reports
- Valid driver’s license and experience with 4WD vehicles
- Excellent organizational skills and team collaboration
- Knowledge of data management tools and research methods
- DOI Background Investigation required before start

Contract Timeline:
