- Salary/Compensation: $15.98 – $22.37 per hour

- Education Required: Some undergraduate coursework (minimum 30 credits) in Fishery/Wildlife, Biology, or related fields; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience Required: At least one year of experience in fisheries management or related research
Essential Functions:
- Support the LTBB Coregonid Research Initiative and assist fisheries biologists in field and lab research activities.
- Operate fisheries assessment gear including gill nets, trawls, seines, and hydroacoustics.
- Collect, analyze, and record biological data from fish samples.
- Assist in commercial harvest sub-sampling and habitat assessments.
- Operate and maintain research equipment such as GPS units, acoustic telemetry equipment, and field meters.
- Participate in fish tagging and telemetry research.
- Maintain and operate LTBB Fisheries Enhancement Facility equipment.
Qualifications:
- Experience with boats and standard fisheries assessment gear.
- Knowledge of fish collection, tagging, and aging techniques preferred.
- Physical fitness required for lifting heavy equipment and extensive outdoor activity.
- Valid driver’s license and insurability mandatory.
Working Conditions:
- Extensive outdoor and water-based fieldwork in variable and extreme weather conditions.
- Regular travel, including overnight stays and camping at remote sampling locations.
- Exposure to wet and humid environments, mechanical equipment, and physical labor.
