Salary/Compensation: $17.41 – $20.50 per hour. Benefits include furnished remote housing, groceries, internet, satellite TV, work gear (excluding boots), and weekly mail/supply flights.

Experience Required: None required. Previous experience/education in aquaculture, fish husbandry, or fisheries biology preferred, but training provided.
Southern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association (SSRAA) is recruiting two full-time seasonal fish culturist(s) at the Burnett Inlet Hatchery, a remote hatchery located approximately 30 air miles from Wrangell, Alaska. The Burnett Inlet Hatchery program is a central incubation facility for summer and fall chum.
This position requires living on site in a furnished bunkhouse with modern amenities. Provided benefits include but are not limited to: weekly mail and supply flights, star link internet, satellite tv, groceries, and work gear (excluding boots).
Work consists of assisting staff with basic fish culture duties, saltwater net pen feeding and rearing, egg-take and spawn of adult salmon, incubation of fertilized eggs, data collection, and basic maintenance around the hatchery.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to successfully live at a remote facility, develop healthy working relationships with co-workers and have a willingness to learn, share knowledge, and skills. Previous experience and education in aquaculture, fish husbandry, or fisheries biology is preferred but SSRAA will train the right applicants.
The job requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, lift, carry, push, or pull 50lbs or more repeatedly, work in inclement weather, and inside around cold running water.
This position is for the months of July – October.
