Position Summary:
A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) seeks Sea Turtle Monitors to support environmental protection efforts during beach construction activities in Charleston, SC. Monitors will conduct nightly surveys to identify and safeguard sea turtle nesting sites in construction zones from April 15 to September 1.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor assigned areas for sea turtle species for up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Identify sea turtle species and nesting behavior.
- Document nesting locations, coordinate with regulators regarding possible nest relocations, and place predator enclosures around nests.
- Conduct personal QA/QC checks on collected data and maintain organized logs.
- Attend daily toolbox, HSE, and project-related meetings.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly rate to be negotiated.
- Full-time, temporary position. Eligible for AIS benefits package after 90 days. Benefits include:

Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in a marine environment.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- 4-year degree in biological sciences.
- Certified as fit for work duty by a licensed physician:
- Ability to live in confined quarters.
- Tolerance for stress and motion sickness.
- Ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds and vigilantly monitor beaches for 8 hours per day.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S..
- Must not have affiliations affecting objectivity in monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of an approved PSO course/training (certificate required).
Travel Requirements:
- Lodging and per diem may be provided for candidates not local to Charleston, SC.
