The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is a Victorian Government statutory
authority whose role it is to work with and support local communities to improve sustainable land,
biodiversity and water resources management, in an area stretching from its head office in Colac to
Geelong, Ballarat and Peterborough.

About the opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Regional Citizen Science team. As a Project
Officer you will ensure the delivery and implementation of the Corangamite CMA Citizen Science
Program. Predominantly field based, you will focus on the delivery of the EstuaryWatch and
Waterwatch programs.

Key features of the role include supporting local volunteers with guidance, equipment, and training,
contributing to the delivery of regional CMA projects and developing engagement activities across
the catchment.

Working in the field you will collect water quality and waterway condition data to support regional
decision making and enhance partnerships with Water Corporations and Traditional Owners. The
role will require travel around the region, sometimes working alongside other CMA staff and
sometimes working alone.

The role is full time however we can accommodate between 0.6 FTE and full time. We offer flexible
work arrangements and support working from home however this role is largely field based and
significant travel across the catchment is required.

This role will suit someone with some experience in citizen science looking to dive in and grow in the
role. Remuneration for the role is $69,124 – $80,231 per annum depending on experience plus
superannuation. If you have significant experience in citizen science and project management and

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in citizen science, natural resource management, environmental management or
    community engagement and a relevant diploma or degree qualification or significant relevant
    experience.
  • Strong project delivery knowledge and skills and implementation capabilities.
  • High level interpersonal, engagement and communication skills with the ability to build and
    maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Good written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare professional business
    correspondence and reports with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve minor problems using your knowledge of NRM.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive, inclusive organisation culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to model the CCMA’s Approach and the Victorian Public Sector values and
    behaviours.
  • Hold a valid working with children check or able to obtain and a current drivers licence.
