Project Officer – Lowland Peatland Recovery

  • Salary/Compensation: Circa £26,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience

  • Education Required: Relevant degree in conservation, environmental science, or related discipline preferred
  • Experience Required: Practical project experience in peatland restoration, stakeholder engagement, or land management

Essential Functions:

  • Work collaboratively with Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England, and North Lincolnshire Council on ongoing EU LIFE and Nature for Climate Fund projects
  • Coordinate specialist contractors, monitor project sites, and provide support to landowners
  • Engage with farmers and stakeholders to promote peatland management practices
  • Maintain accurate records for project monitoring, reporting, and evaluation
  • Support preparation of management plans and participate in project meetings

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of peatland ecosystems and nature recovery principles
  • Experience with ecological restoration and partnership-based conservation work
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially with landowners
  • Confident managing audit trails, reporting systems, and collaborative projects

Working Conditions:

  • Based in the Humberhead Levels region, with fieldwork across multiple counties
  • Office, site-based, and stakeholder-facing role requiring occasional weekend/holiday work
