Museum Technician – Death Valley National Park

Position Overview

Salary/Compensation: $20 per hour
Application Deadline: June 15, 2025
Starting Date: Between June 1 and June 30, 2025
Ending Date: Between September 21 and October 19, 2025
Hours per Week: 40 hours (Full-Time)
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, history, anthropology, or related field
Experience Required: None


Key Responsibilities:

  • Catalog museum objects, complete inventories, and maintain records
  • Upgrade storage environments (create boxes, mounts, supports)
  • Conduct Integrated Pest Management and environmental monitoring
  • Assist researchers and curators; support outreach and exhibit efforts
  • Perform housekeeping of collections and condition reporting
  • Write progress reports and ensure compliance with NPS museum standards

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of independent work
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in high temperatures when needed
  • Comfortable with technical writing and effective verbal communication
  • Ability to wear a half-face respirator when necessary
  • Completion of a Department of Interior (DOI) Background Investigation
