ROLE OVERVIEW

We are a dynamic and globally based nonprofit startup dedicated to preserving marine ecosystems and promoting sustainable practices worldwide. Operating remotely, our organization thrives on innovation, collaboration, and a shared passion for environmental advocacy. As we continue to grow and expand our impact, we are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Marketing Intern to join our team and contribute to our marketing initiatives while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field.

As a Marketing Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our marketing team and gain practical experience in various aspects of marketing, including social media, content creation, email marketing, campaign management, and other related organizational functions. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about environmental conservation, eager to learn, and looking to kick-start their career in marketing. The candidate must be available for set part-time hours (to be negotiated) 2-3x days per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Content Creation: Assist in creating engaging content for various marketing channels, including social media posts, blog articles, email newsletters, and website updates.
  • Social Media Management: Support the management of our social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube, etc.) by drafting posts, scheduling content, and engaging with our online community.
  • Email Marketing: Assist in the development and execution of email marketing campaigns, including drafting copy, designing templates, and monitoring campaign performance.
  • Campaign Support: Provide support in planning, executing, and monitoring marketing campaigns and initiatives to promote events, fundraising efforts, and advocacy campaigns. Support with outreach campaigns over multiple platforms and track responses.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on industry trends, competitor analysis, and audience insights to inform marketing strategies and content development.
  • Graphic Design: Assist in creating visual assets for marketing materials, including social media graphics, infographics, and promotional materials as needed. (No prior experience needed though preferred.) Support the marketing team in sourcing photo & video content for social channels.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Help monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics, such as website traffic, social media engagement, and email campaign metrics, and prepare reports with actionable insights. Support with the development of key reports, recaps, and post-mortems to support the tracking and execution of marketing KPIs.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the marketing team, including organizing files, scheduling meetings, and assisting with project management tasks including but not limited to maintaining ambassador and influencer contact lists, outreaching to potential photographers & videographers, maintaining the marketing resource library, updating press & influencer trackers, and supporting with admin surrounding tentpole campaigns and events. Help organize files, leverage project management software.

Skills & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in an educational course in Business, Marketing, Communications, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Global mindset, genuine desire to create positive impact and inspire others to protect our ocean and our planet
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, copywriting skills, presentation skills, and attention to detail
  • Proactive, strong work ethic
  • Effective time management skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and be collaborative
  • Bonus: Basic graphic design and video editing skills (experience with Adobe Suite or Figma)
  • Bonus: Strong passion and/or understanding of the ocean, sustainability, environmental space
