- Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field
- Experience Required: At least five (5) years of progressive experience related to assigned laboratory, including two (2) years in a supervisory role
Essential Functions:
- Manage operations and research in a scientific laboratory
- Support faculty and researchers in experimental design and data compilation
- Organize and edit research data for publication
- Coordinate equipment purchasing, maintenance, and lab safety
- Supervise staff including hiring, training, and performance evaluation
- Assist with seawater systems and equipment including boats, trailers, and propulsion systems
- Ensure laboratory compliance with university and federal safety protocols
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership in lab management and staff supervision
- Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment and safety standards
- Exceptional planning, communication, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with marine systems is strongly preferred
Working Conditions:
- Laboratory-based with some travel and weekend duties
- May include exposure to hazardous materials with appropriate PPE required
- Requires field readiness, including use of boats and trailer systems
