Bluff Lake Nature Center
Curriculum Development, Program Evaluation, and Facilitation (60%)
- Plan, organize, implement, and deliver an outdoor-based preschool program based on the enrolled children’s individual and group’s educational, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs.
- Lead the development and implementation of evaluation of Forest School in coordination with the Education Director.
- Conduct family conferences with each child’s family to develop rapport, advise parents of child’s progress, and gain parental input into the child’s education plan.
- Facilitate 5 half days a week (roughly from 8am-12pm, times subject to change)
Team Management (20%)
- Train, schedule, and manage 3 forest school educators (2 full-time and 1 part-time).
- Support and direct employee development by working with the Education Director to determine and coordinate training and technical needs, access resources, analyze and solve problems, and stay on top of current issues and theories within the field.
Administration & Budgeting (20%)
- Manage designated budget and order all materials in coordination with the Education Director.
- Lead registration & scholarship efforts.
- Lead all staff and parent communication related to forest school including but not limited to emails and in-person contact. Serve as the on-site point of contact for all families. Develops daily emails to families based on children’s actions and interests which stimulate learning in all developmental areas (physical, social, emotional, and intellectual) for a class of 16 children, age 3 years to age 6.
- Maintain accurate attendance and numbers reports for the program.
- Support the Education Director as needed with licensing and necessary program reports.
- Maintain data entry in BLNC database for all program participants in coordination with the Development Director.
- Maintain organized education materials both onsite and in the office. Organizes materials and equipment to provide a safe, supportive age appropriate environment for children. Conduct an annual inventory of existing materials and equipment and future needs.
- Participate in related staff activities, including but not limited to training, public events, special programs, planning sessions, and staff meetings.
- Coordinate marketing efforts including social media, newsletters, paid advertising as necessary to spread awareness of BLNC programs
- Communicate program logistics with BLNC team through shared calendars, email updates, etc.
