Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association (CIAA)

  • Salary/Compensation: Starting at $13.65 per hour; eligible for overtime. Communal housing and groceries provided.

  • Hours per Week: Minimum 40 hours/week
  • Education Required: High School Diploma
  • Experience Required: None required; fisheries or outdoor experience preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Perform hatchery duties including egg take, incubation, rearing, and harvesting.
  • Operate equipment such as boats, outboard motors, off-road vehicles, and sampling gear.
  • Maintain accurate records of field observations and activities.
  • Assist with hatchery tasks and general facility maintenance.
  • Required to live onsite for the duration of the employment period.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to live in remote conditions and work outdoors in varied weather.
  • Competency in operating boats, outboard motors, sampling gear, and basic construction tools.
  • Physically fit; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and hiking over varied terrain.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications required.
  • Ability to live and work cooperatively in communal living arrangements.

Working Conditions:

  • Remote, outdoor, and marine environment with variable weather conditions.
  • Physical demands including heavy lifting, hiking, and working on boats.
  • Communal housing provided in a bunkhouse setting.
