About this exciting opportunity

Support research projects in the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP) by contributing sound ecological knowledge, data analytical, writing, and specialised photogrammetry data collection and processing skills. As a Coral Ecology Scientist, you will support the organisation and implementation of photogrammetry field work and underwater data collection in remote areas, manage and support the creation, curation, and manipulation of complex datasets as well as undertaking project management and administrative tasks. You will lead the processing of spatially diverse 3D photogrammetry models using a range of software applications (Agisoft Metashape, CloudCompare, ArcGIS, python) and generate 2D and 3D outputs for use in multi-year data-sets.

About you

Your suitability for the role is underpinned by your experience with field work organisation in remote locations and your sampling design, data management, and data analyses skills. You are able to assist with managing of large projects and are able to work in a highly collaborative team environment. Your experience with underwater photogrammetry data collection, 3D model processing and related software applications, as well as good IT literacy (e.g experience with python coding, HPC computing) will allow you to thrive in this role. Advanced field qualifications are highly desirable.

  • AIMS AOF Level 3 salary ($73,655 to $82,993 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation
