POSITION SUMMARY
Ocean Conservancy seeks a dynamic and creative Brand Manager to oversee and elevate their brand across all platforms and departments. In this pivotal role, the Brand Manager will maintain brand consistency, collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop compelling content, and drive engagement to advance Ocean Conservancy’s mission and expand the organization’s reach.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative team member with a strong background in brand management and digital marketing.
Reporting to the Vice President, Brand and Marketing, the Brand Manager will serve as a member of the Strategic Communications team and will have the following primary responsibilities:
Protect Where We Play Initiative (40%)
- Leads and manages the sports and entertainment marketing campaign, Protect Where We Play, ensuring alignment with overall brand objectives.
- Develops and executes communication strategies in collaboration with the VP, Brand and Marketing to effectively engage target audiences.
- Partners with external vendors and the internal Communications team to maximize public exposure and awareness.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for sports and entertainment firms, athletes, entertainers, corporate partners, and Ocean Conservancy’s Development team to drive campaign success.
- Creates and oversees marketing plans for key tentpole events, ensuring impactful execution.
Cross-Departmental Brand Management (25%)
- Collaborates with all departments to ensure consistent brand messaging and visual identity across externally facing materials.
- Establishes, maintains, and implements comprehensive brand guidelines across the organization.
- Partners with external vendors to create collateral that aligns with the organization’s creative brand and voice for all organizational needs.
- Serves as a brand ambassador, training and guiding staff on brand standards and best practices.
- Works with staff to apply brand positioning for email, social, website, video, ads, and other digital channels.
- Proactively champions and safeguards the brand, ensuring alignment with organizational values and objectives.
Brand Strategy & Analytics (15%)
- Develops and executes successful brand strategies based on comprehensive market research and data analysis.
- Stays informed on digital marketing trends and best practices to enhance brand engagement.
- Utilizes performance tracking tools to evaluate key metrics and return on investment for brand initiatives.
- Manages brand budgets, forecasts trends, and makes informed, data-driven decisions to optimize brand initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration (20%)
- Drives brand campaigns by partnering closely with cross-functional teams, including Programs, Marketing, Communications, Digital, Creative, and Legal.
- Communicates brand positioning and strategic initiatives effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
- Builds and sustains strong relationships with company leadership and key partners.
- Performs additional duties as needed to support brand management and cross-functional collaboration.
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess many of the experiences and qualifications described below but need not possess them all for consideration:
- 5+ years of experience in brand management, including assistant brand manager roles.
- Proven track record in successfully leading brand initiatives and managing brand communication.
- Exceptional project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong command of the English language.
- Deep passion for ocean conservation and environmental issues.
- Ability to approach marketing with a global brand perspective to support expansion and growth initiatives.
- Strong storytelling and strategic planning capabilities, with the ability to create compelling narratives.
- Creative thinker with the capability to collaborate effectively across functions.
- Skilled in data-driven decision-making and audience growth strategy development.
- Collaborative team player with an innovative and solutions-oriented mindset.
TRAVEL
Approximately 20% of your time will be spent traveling.
BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $72,035 – $105,878 annually, with an anticipated starting salary dependent upon the hired candidate’s location, qualifications, background, and experience. In addition, Ocean Conservancy offers a comprehensive benefits package to include:

- Retirement Planning – 100% vested upon hire; can begin contributing at hire. After one year, Ocean Conservancy will open a 401(a) account for you and will contribute 6% of your monthly salary whether you participate in the 403(b) or not.
