Feature Destination: Your Maine Experience

Wow, a year has passed since we first launched Experience Maine. As I celebrate this milestone, I reflect on all the support and encouragement I’ve received from the industry and my peers. As well as all the love we’ve received from our clients. It’s been a roller coaster of a year, zooming by at first and then slowing to a crawl after Covid reared its ugly head.

As an industry here in Maine, we are surviving. Finding new ways to reinvent ourselves, create new offerings and build new partnerships. As my father says, never let a good pandemic go to waste and we have been lucky enough to find opportunity through all of this.

As we look to fall, we will continue to create and promote Maine Experiences and partnerships for our followers and clients to enjoy. This includes our commitment to send you this new monthly travel planner – Your Maine Experience. At the beginning of each month, we will share Maine travel experiences that you can explore for yourself. You’ll get access to the hottest new restaurants, best staycation deals, sample itineraries and a featured Maine-made gift.

So to begin, I introduce you to September in Maine – many a Mainer’s favourite time of year. A time when things start to slow down and there is more opportunity to just sit by the lake and reflect on a memorable summer. The change in the air becomes apparent, but we welcome it. The sunlight filters through the trees a little earlier and the nights are a little cooler. September may bring cool breezes, but lazy days by the seashore, lobster rolls eaten on picnic tables, and cones overflowing with moose tracks ice cream are still on our to-do list. In Maine, we make the most of each day AND each season. And this September will be like no other—plenty of parking at the beaches, reservations outside at your favourite restaurant, and quieter hiking trails and outdoor excursions that will allow you some much needed time to reset and reflect.
