This Blue Carbon Network webinar, hosted by The Pew Charitable Trusts, will highlight the Wetland Intrinsic Potential (WIP) Tool, an innovative technology developed by Washington-based researchers that combines satellite imagery, hydrology, elevation, and vegetation data to locate and assess wetlands that have historically been difficult to map. The WIP Tool is particularly useful for identifying forested wetlands along U.S. coastlines, which are often overlooked in traditional mapping efforts.
Join us to learn how the WIP Tool can:
- Enhance state habitat assessments and wetland inventories.
- Improve conservation and restoration planning.
- Support science-based management strategies that better conserve wetlands and the benefits they provide, including carbon storage.
